Autumn is the best season. Vintage occurs during Autumn, the nights start to become cool leading to the best sleeps, the days are warm yet still. There’s a hint of winter coming but the days are still holding on to the warmth of summer. So in terms of wines to drink something that straddles this shoulder season that accommodates the warm days but cool nights leads to a good array of choices.

2023 Wilyabrup Semillon - a serious wine with texture, hint of oak, yet acid drive to keep it fresh
2023 Syrah - medium bodied, perfect for the shoulder season. Displays a prettiness which makes the wine approachable day or night.
2024 Sangiovese Rosé - I love the savoury aspect of this wine. Makes me think of autumn and the changing colour of the leaves.
2024 Southside Chardonnay - great weight, with this over arching grapefruit character that gives a satiating character throughout the wine.
2022 Cabernet Merlot - perfect for the warm days but cool nights - easily approachable, juicy fruit front palate, fine soft tannins. Perfect for these cooler nights.
2024 SSB - holding onto summer! Warm days still call for refreshment. But this style with its subtle influence of oak gives a bit or texture and weight to the wine, without compromising the fresh vibrancy of the fruit making it the perfect autumnal wine.
