James Halliday 2017 Wine Companion Reviews

James Halliday 2017 Lenton BraeWe are pleased to have retained our five star rating from luminary James Halliday “Outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity”

95pts 2015 Southside Chardonnay

Vines planted in ’82, fermented and matured in new and used French Oak. Initially a delicate bouquet and palate, but the flavours build rapidly in the mouth; the wine has great attack (a word often used by French tasters), with grapefruit flesh and zest to the fore of a long and distinguished palate. Cellar 2025 Excellent value

94pts 2013 Wilyabrup Semillon Sauvignon Blanc

Has abundant energy and drive, Semillon contributing to both the structure and flavour, the grip on the finish extending the length of the palate. The individual flavors have been welded into a coherent whole that will give pleasure for many years to come. Cellar 2021

94pts 2013 Wilyabrup Chardonnay

Light straw green; a wine all about effortless elegance – Brideshead Revisited stuff, and on the slow road to maturity. If you lift the sheets, there is a surprising strength in the grapefruit accented acidity, and it is on this that the wine will build in the years ahead. Cellar 2025
