"Lenton Braes Chardonnays have taken a quantum leap in recent years, and this wine of great finesse and engaging complexity is a case in point. Wild yeast fermented and a mix of older oaks spiced with some new, work to produce a thouroughly beautiful wine. Has a funky vanilla pod and lemon curd aroma with a little mealy cashew richness. It will evolve nice in the medium term."
Lenton Brae has a special affinity with Wilyabrup Chardonnay, celebrating 26 consecutive vintages of growing and vinifying with the release of the 2015 Wilyabrup Chardonnay. This release varies only slightly but significantly from previous years. It comprises about 20% of the ‘Bernard’ clones, originally sourced from Burgundy. Their inclusion brings lifted aromatics with a finer balance and flavour complexity to the palate at a lower alcohol level, complementing the power and texture of the ‘Gin Gin’ clone. The grapes are handpicked, chilled then gently pressed before fermentation in new and used French oak barrels. Vineyard Selection: The fruit is sourced exclusively from Lenton Brae’s vineyard
