2012 Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon - Back vintage
From the outstanding 2012 vintage this wine represents the culmination of everything we have learnt since our first release in 1988. We believe it will continue to provide pleasure for many years to come.
95+/100 Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
"Impressive wine from the get go. Fine, rarified bouquet of mahogany and tobacco oak meshed to dark fruits, plum, lavender, bay leaf, black olive. In the palate, notable volume of flavour but also a pliancy with fine, firm, suede-textured tannins and squeakiness of acidity. It sits in the palate with succulence and great presence of dark fruits, touch of herbs, mineral-like tickle, fine oak, ripe fruit flavour. It's a very good wine here."
95/100 Ray Jordan, West Australian Wine Guide
"Impressive Cabernet from this very good vintage. Loads of dark chocolate and blackcurrant fruit with a tobacco leaf complexity. The palate is deep and concentrated with all that gorgeous Margaret River Cabernet. The tannins are fully ripe with a slightly grainy sinewy feel that adds to the classic feel of the wine. Sustained and long finish. A wine that will support further cellaring."
94/100 James Halliday, Wine Companion 2016
"Fluid Cabernet boasting cassis and mulberry flavor flanked by bay leaf and ground spice. Creamy oak has an exuberant influence but as the wine breathes the fruit shines further and further through it. Tannin and overall balance suggest this wine has many years up its sleeve. Cellar 2032"
This wine comprises 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Merlot. Made exclusively from the best Estate grown Wilyabrup vines, the fruit is handpicked with individual vineyard lots fermented separately; with portions being barrel fermented or held on skins for extended maceration depending on their fruit characters. The wine was then matured in new and one year-old French oak barriques for 18 months before being blended and bottled onsite.

Vineyard Selection: The fruit is sourced exclusively from Lenton Brae’s Wilyabrup vineyard
