Lenton Brae is a small family owned Margaret River wine producer that consists of a dedicated team.
In addition to the faces below, as a hand harvested estate we welcome backpackers from all over the world to assist us during the busy and exciting harvest period from February to April.
EDWARD TOMLINSON / WINEMAKER / 27 VINTAGES AT LENTON BRAE
“They’re all my favs”
Edward first started travelling down to Lenton Brae on the weekends as a 15 year old and helped Bruce plant the vineyard in 1982.
He graduated with a degree in Applied Science (Oenology) from Roseworthy Agricultural college in 1992. After vintages in South Africa, California and New Zealand, Edward returned to his family’s vineyard in 1995 and has added northern hemisphere vintages in Spain, Bordeaux and Italy to his reume since.
His past wine judging experiences include regional and capital city wine shows, as well as chairing the Margaret River Show Committee.
His continuity at Lenton Brae affords a unique perspective to the strengths of their Wilyabrup vineyard.
JEANETTE TOMLINSON / OWNER / 31 VINTAGES AT LENTON BRAE
“The Chardonnay, though they’re all good!”
Jeanette moved to Lenton Brae in 1989 when she started making their own wine alongside husband Bruce.
In the early days Jeanette would prune alongside her husband and could often be found in the vineyard picking with the workers.
After several years of trial and error the vineyard began bearing fruit, which meant the Tomlinson’s had wine to sell, which became Jeanette’s main role at Lenton Brae.
“I remember loading the car and driving to Perth to do the rounds - this was before we had any distribution!”
Nowadays there is a lot less driving, and you can find Jeanette welcoming visitors at the cellar door where she loves to share the Leon Brae family story.
RUSSELL COCKER “RUSS” / 2IC / 9 VINTAGES AT LENTON BRAE
Winemaker, hand-picker, crew wrangler, forklift dancer, surfer and boat captain. Russ is an integral part of the Lenton Brae team.
Hailing from Dunsborough, Russ worked 10 vintages in the Wilyabrup region before bringing his ‘wine whispering’ talents to Lenton Brae where he became full time in 2012.
Russ ensures that the day to day management of the vineyard runs smoothly, is an all round handyman for the estate and can be found front and centre during vintage time.
His work ethic and dedication to quality makes him an important contributor to the consistency of Lenton Brae.
