Shiraz 2007
GOLD MEDAL
Winewise Small Vigneron Awards, 2008

|
This wine is the first varietal Shiraz produced by Lenton Brae since 2002. The season was exceptionally warm, with harvest dates for all varieties considerably earlier than usual. The shiraz vines in particular, benefited from this warmth and attained full ripeness; a feat not always possible for this variety in Margaret River.
The wine is of medium body, with a supple, juicy texture. It’s soft tannins make the wine approachable now, though the wine has the fruit intensity to allow cellaring for up to five years.
Bottled March 2008.
Price: $30.00
Reviews
Winewise, June 2008.
"This wine has a touch of class, but it certainly needs time to show its best form.
The red fruit characteristics are very appealing..."
Scoop, Winter 2008
"This wine is something of a surprise as Lenton Brae is not known for Shiraz - cabernet and semillon sauvignon blanc dominate its portfolio. However if this tasting is anything to go by, this could be the start of something good, with the wine showing all the hallmarks of another classic from the 2007 vintage. It had rich colour, violets on the bouquet, and a rich and full structure that just needs time."
