Name and role at Lenton Brae?
Andrew Gradisen (Graddo) Vineyard Manager/Viticulturist with a good bit of flexibility.
How long have you worked at Lenton Brae?
Just over 12 months before that I worked for Voyager Estate in number of different capacities.
What do you enjoy about your job? (assuming you do of course!)
I enjoy the confidence that Jeanette and Ed have shown in me which is allowing me to run the vineyard in the way that I feel will show the best long-term results. The job is also very interesting in that it requires me to be hands on while still looking after the technical and management side of things.
Do you have a favourite Lenton Brae wine?
The SSB has always been a favourite but I would also say that the 2005 Chardonnay is starting to hit its straps.
What do you do when you’re not at Lenton Brae?
I have a wife and two boys (4 & 6) who keep me busy, when they let me out I go surfing.
Within your role at Lenton Brae, what are you plans for the medium to long term?
I would like to think that my understanding of the interaction between our site and vines would improve to the point that allows the vines to produce sustainable yields of high quality fruit, which will enhance the Lenton Brae label.
Best (non-wine) attribute of the Margaret River wine region?
The ‘SURF'.
Favourite destination?
Up North.
Best wine moment?
Most times that I open a bottle with friends. I am also looking forward to opening the 2007 vintage Lenton Brae Estate Wines.
If you were a wine, what would you be?
Probably a very immature Vintage Port.
